Maybe it's because I love you too much...

Do you remember that couple in high school? They never seemed really happy to see each other, but they had been off-again, on-again since junior high, and they just couldn't seem to be without each other.
I think that is maybe what Jethro and our cat have going on. The cat could easily get away from a toddler, but he never does. Jethro is eventually too rough, and the cat enevitably scratches him to get away. As predictable as this turn of events is they make no effort to avoid it.
Maybe that's all they've ever known, and they think that's how love goes between a cat and a boy.

Fish

Jethro is a fish in the water. Since we don't even have a bathtub at home, we never would have known. It has been wonderful being up in Koutiala and enjoying the pool. Jethro loves the water and doesn't mind going under. He does have a small does of healthy fear, but really is quite brave. I hope his love of the water will last. But since we have no pool in our town, and will only be here for a few weeks, I don't know if that will be possible to keep his love for it alive. But for now... we love watching our little fish.

My Sweet Jethro

This is the first Sunday that he fell asleep at Church. Yea!

9 Months Old and Crawling...

Who is your neighbor?

Éléa is our next door neighbor in our apartment building. Éléa loves babies. She wants nothing more than to hold Jethro, to rock him, to fix his problems. Éléa is a free spirit and very interesting. She is a tiny four year old. We just learned reciently from her mom that her parents are seperating. My heart breaks for little Éléa and I pray for her that she would find love, security and most of all Jesus Christ as her savior. (In this photo I had just told her that Jethro likes to suck his thumb. My french must be lacking something cause she promptly put her thumb in his mouth for him to suck on.)

All thumbs...

I just love that Jethro has found his thumb. I never had a baby before who sucked their thumb on a regular basis. I suppose in three years I'll be writing about how we can't get him to quit, but in the meantime, he loves it, it's cute, and it helps him be a champion sleeper!
